Project 1.002_iterative study process
Here are some of my completed study models:
Through my exploration of the Marigny-Bywater neighborhood in Project 1.001 I found interest in the graffiti and art of the area. Through this study of the art, I found that a great deal of it was centered around the industrialized areas of the neighborhood. I knew from this study that I wanted to focus on these industrialized areas along the levee for Project 1.002. I didn’t have a clear direction of what exactly I wanted to model when I first began the study models other than I knew the area that I wanted to focus on. I studied pictures and maps of the levee area of the neighborhood to form my iterative models. I decided to model the current degradation and ruin of the wharfs on the river side of the levee and how that translated into the neighborhood. I also modeled the interaction between levee, railroad, and industry and how this related to the neighborhood. Through the study models and discussion with peers I decided that I wanted to focus my temporal model on how industry has changed over time in the neighborhood and how that has effected its growth.
